THE MEANINGS OF THE WORK VIRTUALIZATION: DISCURSIVE MANIFESTATIONS OF THE TECHNOLOGICAL, PROCESSING AND PERSONAL PERCEPTIONS, IN THE INTRA-ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONS

Resumo
The current scenario, in which the organization uses the constant technological innovation to flexibilize their structures and to adequate the growing world competitiveness is the base of recent researches in the field of administrative sciences. Work formats that define the concepts of time and space are creating a link between virtualization and work in the organizational context. This study objective is analyzing the discursive manifestations about work virtualization in a software company, considering the technology, process and people dimensions. The literature review describes the concepts of virtualization, space virtualization and work virtualization inside the virtual conception of work. We adopted a qualitative methodology, choosing the discourse analysis method. The operationalization of this research was made considering the elaboration of open questions that allowed the free manifestation of the interviewee about the transition from the conventional work to the virtualized one. Representatives of different functional layers of the organization - president, senior management and operations - contributed their testimonies that were later linked and thoroughly analyzed. The results reinforce the theoretical contributions about the difficulties of the people involved. The study also alludes to contributions of methodological nature in the field of information administration. The use of discourse analysis was important to exploit the perceptions about the power perpetuation, commonly found in organizations. It was impossible to identify that the managers still worry in guarantee the order of work in the authority execution and have difficulties in accept changes that comes from the work virtualization, exactly for not believing in the effectiveness of the virtual conjuncture
