Resumo

The IT-Information Technology department has increasingly become important to support enterprises’ operations within such dynamic environment, making companies increasingly dependent on technology. This magnifies the alignment importance between business needs and plans, activities and IT operations. Particularly in software design, quality becomes critical on developed systems. The software product’s quality is closely linked to the process used in its development. This research aims to contribute to the software development process improvement. It begins with a literature review and identification of a software process improvement methodology called PRO2PI. Based on action research, PRO2PI was applied in a large organization where software is not a core activity. Action research is characterized by researcher’s dual role: influence over the researched object and academic analysis of obtained results. Two cycles of process improvement were performed by applying the standards from ABNT NBR ISO/IEC 12207:2009 and ISO/IEC 15504. Results demonstrate the feasibility of application of PRO2PI in the organization
