Resumo
Multicriteria decision analysis has been widely disseminated in the academic and business literature, especially from the 1950s, as useful tools used by people and corporations around the world, in order to help decision making. The crux of the article is to examine, through a comparative essay, a hypothetical decision case, where it was necessary to classify, among 4 countries, which one had the best quality of living, combined with a review of the basic theory of Decision Making. The essay used 3 types of decision making information technology tools: AHP, Fuzzy and SWOT. The results showed advantages and disadvantages of each analyzed tool and indicate that, besides its individual power and characteristics, maybe better decisions should be done with an integrated combination of methods.
