The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of the use of groupware technology to knowledge management, and the factors affecting the creation and sharing of knowledge within a brazilian electric energy company. The research, using a qualitative approach, observed the tolls of groupware technology implemented into the company, such as INTRANET, corporative network and the Lotus Notes as the basis for Knowledge Management. The results suggest that the groupware technology implemented in the organization has facilitated the operational work and the informational wide, through an informational management, but it isn’t used systematically to share the organizational knowledge.
